World War I

This map has a lot of shapes that move around as the animation plays. The shape that represents the movement of soldiers across the land morphs and changes. As the shapes move around there is also text to explain what is happening during the war to add context to the movement of the shapes.

This map does a nice job of displaying information with the timeline running through history. The different levels of grey make it easy to identify where the important areas of the map are and the red dots are clear against the background as well.

This is an interactive map of the Milky Way Galaxy that allows the user to add features on top of the base image. The toggle buttons allow the user to put a grids up as a reference to where things are in the galaxy and the different constellations.

This is an interactive map about the outbreaks of preventable diseases that the world has vaccines for. The forward arrows progresses from 2008 to 2010 to show the changes in outbreaks around the world. Each click of the arrow moves the timeline ahead one year and allows the viewer to see the change over time of the spread of diseases.

Two Images

The two satellite images show the before and after effects of a tsunami that hit the shores of Banda Aceh in Indonesia. The first image shows the land as it was in June of 2004 and the second image shows the land after the tsunami hit in December of 2004. The lines on the images show the roads and the coastline of the land to emphasize the change caused by the tsunami.
